October 21, 2010

Well Luke, Ethan and Maya put their plan into action: Luke feigns heart attack in hopes that Tracy will pity him and allow him to return home with her so she can nurse him then Ethan will stop by periodically to sneak him cigars and drinks while flirting on Maya on the side. Whether Tracy falls for it is a different matter.

While her uncle is scheming away, Carly is livid that Jax is planning to renovate a few rooms to turn into an apartment for Brenda Barrett. After going on a rampage, she tells him it does not matter and runs to Jason practically hyperventilating. Then she turns on him and kisses him. Good grief. And she calls Brenda the slut. If anyone is destroying their life it is Carly. What does she think kissing Jason would do? What if Spinelli walked in? Or Sam? Or Michael?

Of course Carly has been busy. I'm sure she is the one behind the private notes sent to Sonny and Claire so they could meet and have dinner. After all, she was the one who told Claire that Sonny would be up for the taking now that Brenda has turned him down.

Claire is seesawing between her anger at Sonny and her desire to forgive him. As she told Dante, she wants to put him away and save him at the same time. A sentiment that Dante shares himself.

However, Sonny is not the only one on his mind recently. Both he and Brenda keep flashing back to their mysterious past together when he was her bodyguard (something only Claire knows about). Their relationship is still uncertain. Obviously there was a friendship and a closeness, but whether they slept together can only be guessed right now. However we get flashes of screams and d dark alley. What happened that dark, eerie night?

Well Brenda's friend Robin needed to have someone talk some sense into her. And she called Maxi. Maxi? Surprisingly, it is Maxi who talks her down and they have a very civil conversation before Patrick interrupts, answering for himself when they begin talking about their marriage. Patrick is willing to go to counseling and everything but Robin refuses saying that she doesn't want to get hurt more by hearing why her husband decided to cheat on her. I think in a way, though it is hard for her, she wants to hold onto the anger. She wants to be angry and play the victimized wife who has been abused by her husband and his mistress. I'm sure if people believed her about Lisa, she would be able to forgive Patrick more. However, since the entire hospital looks at her like she's the insane one, she feels vindicated to hold onto her anger and justified not to forgive Patrick. That's just my opinion though.

In other Scrub news, Elizabeth has been called out by Brook. (Okay this happened yesterday, but still.) Liz tried to call Brook a gold-digging opportunist but Brook turned it on her saying the Liz is playing hot and cold with Nikolas, forgetting about all the damage she has already inflicted on him. In this fight, I have to back up Brook. Liz comes crawling to Nik when she realizes that the money she invested in a deal that her brother warned her about is gone. Her money was her link to independence and now it is gone so she is back at Nik's door for.... what? Money? Support? Forgiveness? What?

October 19, 2010

Not much happened concerning Brenda and Dante except the people around them are becoming slowly suspicious and curious of what's really going on with their unusual behavior.

On more exciting news, Lucky has finally persuaded Siobhan that it would be best for her to come to Port Charles with him. After escaping the two Balkan men, she was later retrieved by Lucky and told that she needed to disappear. Where? To Port Charles. He quickly got her new passports and IDs. So soon we should see them back home and teaming up with Jason.

Robin got a break from her emotional drama as she continues to allow Lisa to make her out as the insane bitter woman in this love triangle. After exchanging biting words with Patrick, she was summoned by Brenda to tell Sonny to back off. Robin rightfully apologizes for pushing them together then goes to see Sonny to give him Brenda's message.

While his wife is running around Port Charles, Patrick is getting burned at the hospital. Steve, still unsure who is telling the truth, reminds Patrick that all of Lisa's actions towards Robin are alleged and that it sounds like Patrick is against Lisa because of his guilt for cheating on his wife. So after a stressful day at work, I'm sure he will not be pleased when he finds out that Lisa followed him to the Metro Court and arranged to receive a room on the same floor as his.

October 18, 2010

The Balkan is already touching many parts of Port Charles and its not all centered around Brenda Barrett- okay it is but not all directly.

Jason is rightly suspicious after Dante comes storming down his stairs from Brenda's room, telling him to keep his guest out of his investigation concerning Sonny. Now since Sonny is the one who saw Dante and Brenda together in her room, you would think he would be suspicious as well but his entire focus was on getting Brenda back so he just took Dante's flimsy excuse for being there and let it and him go. Dante's angry march takes him back home where he rips into Michael for no reason but being the first person in his line of fire. It wasn't until he alluded to Michael murdering Claudia that he realized how cruel he was being to his younger brother. Yet it was too late. Michael ran away and Dante had to make due with Lulu trying to console him though his mind flickered back to a time between him and Brenda.

This secret must be good. They promised that no one is to know and that their paths should never cross. Is that why she went to Europe? What did they do? Why is it terrifying Dante so much that he's ready to yell at anyone? However big their secret is, I wonder if it is worth it. Jason is positive that Brenda knows who the Balkan is and is furious that she won't tell him anything.

Needing to get away, Jason is called away to meet up with Luke who had to beg Carly for a room at her hotel since his beloved wife, Tracy, refuses to take him back with her millions he stole. Carly agrees under the condition that he owes her a HUGE favor. Luke calls Jason to tell him that his visit to Europe might have stirred the attention of a mysterious man who has already beaten Ethan in hopes to get information. Guess how surprised Jason was when it was linked back to The Balkan.

Well, Luke had to tell Ethan why the half of his face was bloodied up- Lucky is in beyond neck deep trouble in Europe posing as Ronan. Luckily for him, he finds out that Brenda is back in Port Charles. Unfortunately for him, The Balkan's men are not satisfied with his need of an assistant and tell him that he has to kill Siobhan now. How is he going to talk his way out of this? I'm just glad that they are not making Lucky roam around Europe looking for Brenda who is practically in his backyard.

Back at the show's namesake, Lisa is already stirring the drama more. Prancing around in her underwear in front of Patrick, she continues to push his buttons with her innocent act. Then after Robin warns him not to let Lisa get to him, Robin slaps Lisa who skillfully hit a sore spot. Dumb Robin. I know its hard, but she should have just walked away. Like any antagonist, they act for reactions. Don't do anything and they flounder. If you react, they win. Plane and simple.

As Dante is letting his past secret with Brenda concerning the Balkan tear him up inside, the mayor is ready to tear up his career. Thanks to his so-called buddy, Ronnie, the mayor doesn't only want Dante off the car bomb case, but he wants him off the force completely. I've just got one question: HOW IS THIS MAN STILL MAYOR OF PORT CHARLES???? Who keeps electing him back into office? Seriously! In the next sweeps month catastrophe, he should be one of the ones killed off. Just a suggestion.

October 15, 2010

Lisa is back and Robin is already letting herself look like the crazy, mental fool Lisa wants her to look like. Who would have thought it would be Maxi to talk sense into her cousin? Robin needs to listen to Maxi and Maya and not let Lisa win by flying off the handle every time she opens her mouth. Perhaps she and Brenda should both get out of Port Charles for awhile.

But I know Brenda is not going anywhere. Not with Sonny trying to prove himself to her, Carly freaking out and her big secret with Dante. After going to Jax to ask for his support to keep her away from Sonny- like really what can Jax do?- she returns to Jason's and has a surprise visit from Dante. They go up to her room where they both claim to not have told ANYONE about their secret. Downstairs, Jason opens the door for Sonny who is told that Brenda is up in her room.

I don't know why Sonny is there, except to prove to Carly that she cannot control his life. I get that Carly is afraid of Michael and what Claire Walsh might do to her son to get back at Sonny for breaking her heart, but she should know that Claire would not believe that he would want her back out of love after she threatened to arrest his son to get to him. Claire might be a sap but she's not an idiot. Especially now that she is scorned and humiliated, her guard is up and she has something to prove.

Across the ocean, Lucky is ducking the cops and the bad guys as he still poses as Ronan O'Reilly trying to find Brenda Barrett with his partner, Siobhan. Obviously just escaping a recent attack, he's injured and is in need of aid which Siobhan is happy to provide. She is also ready to provide her body. Lucky is getting Lucky which is about time. He hasn't been with a woman since before Elizabeth and Nikolas broke his heart.

My predictions for the future:
  • Lisa is not done with Port Charles and is going to bring more dangerous escapades to General Hospital
  • Jax, feeling like he's doing a favor for a "friend" is going to suggest Brenda does something for Crimson to keep her occupied and away from Sonny which is going to anger Carly and annoy Maxi and probably add another female enemy- Lulu (especially after she sees the chemistry between Brenda and Dante)
  • Either Dante is not going to convict Sonny of the car bomb because of Brenda's request or he's going to be sidetracked by The Balkan's reemergence into his life.
  • Jason and Dante will have to team up again to protect Brenda
  • Something big is brewing so a big explosion happens in September- Sweeps Month

October 14, 2010

This week has been the week of Returns

Luke's return surprises his non-wife and son. Tracie makes an ultimatum that he cannot ignore- giver her back her money and she will give him another chance. Now he just has to find out how to get the money. However, Ethan has his own problems regarding Luke's return. Two thugs came over to beat him up for information of Luke's visit to Ireland and seeing Ronan O'Reilly in jail. Low and behold, the guys are part of Johnny's men and really work for the Balkan. The Balkan might have more than one reason to visit Port Charles.

Johnny was earlier propositioned by Carly to go see Jason and bump into Brenda. Then she made the horrible comment that Brenda is always after her men. Carly get real! ALL of Carly's men knew Brenda long before Carly was even a blip on their radar. If anything, it's the other way around. Thankfully, Michael came to tell her about Claire threatening to send him back to prison. This of course distracts Carly enough so she goes to attack the other brunette who has been a thorn in her side.

However, Sonny has already gotten to Claire and shamed her into dropping her threats. He tells her that her issue is with him, not Jason or Michael which Claire agrees to. That's why she wants to make sure that Dante gets this case concerning the car bomb in Johnny's car right and is able to get an airtight case against his father. Unfortunately for Dante, he's also being pressured by the mayor- who keeps electing this moron as a city official- who threatens him by sending him up for a review if they cannot get Sonny for this bomb. Too bad for both Claire and the mayor, Dante's mind is not completely focused on his father. Brenda keeps popping up in his mind.

Speaking of Brenda, Maxi finally came face to face with The Divine One. To her horror and agitation, Spinelli defended Brenda and Jason kicked her out. I'm glad that Spinelli finally told Maxi that it was none of her business. She keeps claiming that Brenda is going to break his heart, but looks who is talking. The same woman who cheated on Spinelli- physically and emotionally several times: Johnny, Franco and Matt. Yet, Brenda is going to be the one to hurt him? As if!

Maxi was not the only one making a fool of herself today. At the hospital, tired of the stares and side glances, Robin makes another spectacle of herself by putting her dirty laundry out there in the open. Honestly, she's making herself look even more crazy and obsessed and bitter. This of course is going to be her downfall because guess who is back (besides Liz).... LISA!

Liz is probably feeling like she has been gone forever since everything has changed. The hospital is tip toeing around the drama of Patrick/Robin/Lisa. People are questioning her friend's sanity and are angry with her other friend. Dependable Lucky is nowhere to be seen. Also, Nikolas is no longer pining over her. In fact, Nikolas is living with Brook Lynn which upsets Liz, though I don't think its any of her business. She dragged her feet too much when he wanted her. Serves her right that he continued living his life after she left.

Speaking of Brook and Nik, Nik claims that he knows that a relationship between them would be bad and Brook calls him out on his still festering desire for his deceased wife, Emily. She, like many others before her, told him it was time to move on.

October 08, 2010

Today's episode did not disappoint.

Brenda got a chance to see a lot of people: Jax (which was a sweet visit that led to him going down memory lane in his head), Carly (who ran away to bitch to Jason), Sonny again (who she was planning to tell "I love you" to) and Dante (who obviously has a mysterious past with her that NOBODY knows about). The Brenda/Dante thing was predicted by still gratifying to watch; their joyous surprise to see each other then the shock when Sonny walked into the room.

Frankly, I would not mind if Dante loved Brenda because I'm getting sick and tired of hypocritical Lulu. She has ALWAYS known that Sonny and her father didn't follow the law. In fact, she's envious of the time when her family was living the dangerous life, bouncing all over the globe, doing scams and whatnot as they go. However, since Sonny shot Dante (something everyone else has basically gotten over) she wants Dante to nail his hide to the door no matter who will hurt- mainly Sonny's children. Michael- who is going through a lot for her young age- will defend and support his father no matter what, even going as far as urging him to flee the country.  Kristina will be hugely conflicted and hurt and become more of an emotional drama queen. Poor Morgan will become conflicted as well. But does Lulu consider that? No!

Okay, I've vented over that situation. Moving on to another blond who is growing on my nerves (in fact all the blonds are becoming equally annoying): Carly. I know she is scared that her dear sweet noble husband is going to fall back in love with Brenda, but to forbid him to see her is a bit extreme especially since she's the one who has slept with her ex-husband TWICE while married to Jax. Jax has not given her any indication that he would cheat on her. In fact, he proved himself with Sky when she visited. He was separated from his wife and Sky was not subtle about what she wanted but he remained faithful. Carly has NEVER remained faithful. If everything that they have done to each other (cheated, lied, betrayed, etc.) hasn't broken up their marriage, why does she think little old Brenda could?

The other blond who has been annoying me is Maxi. She's the one who broke up with Spinelli because he's not enough for her, but he cannot admire another woman? Can we say selfish and needy? She reminds me of another blond on the show. I wonder who. CARLY. I swear, they should be sisters or cousins or somehow related. They have more in common than Carly and Lulu.

Okay, now that I vented about the characters I'm going to turn my attention to the writers. They are putting way too much emphasis on Brenda's return. Even before she showed up, they overdid it with the three episodes featuring her and "her" men. Then were the continuous flashbacks that they are still using. And now 50% of Port Charles male demographic is drooling over her. She's a pretty woman but she is not Aphrodite or some Gorgeous Greek Goddess that has descended down to Earth. In fact, she's losing a lot of her appeal with their over dramatization of her. Fans (who weren't around when she first arrived on the show) are getting sick and tired of her already and according to reports she signed a year contract. Come on! I get Sonny and Jax's admiration of her- she was their past love that caused the friction between the two men to begin with. Dante's is because of a new storyline so I can forgive that. Yet, there is no need for Spinelli, Max and Milo to be swooning over her. Though I will admit, Spinelli is sometimes funny when he's not being ridiculous with his admiration.

Which brings me back to the women of Port Charles who is annoying me- or at least how she is being written right now. Sam is not my favorite character, in fact half of the time she is either boring or annoying. However, why is she so insecure about Brenda? Jason has told her several times how much Brenda annoys him. Carly told her how much Jason does not like Brenda. How can she feel threatened by Brenda when she was not threatened by or feel insecure with Elizabeth. Jason actually loved Liz. They had a child together. He still likes Liz and is devoted to her. The one she should be jealous of is her, not Brenda. In fact, her and Brenda could be friends which would annoy Carly so much.

Another highlight of the show for me was the banter between Luke and Lucky as Luke was arrested and Lucky refused to aid him. Instead, he called Tracy who claimed not to care even though she requested Luke's exact whereabouts. Even Lulu called her on her BS. So after Lucky confirmed Luke's aid, he returns to his apartment where Siobhan is waiting for him. They are like the second generation of Luke and Laura- a pair that began with question beginnings but will probably grow together as they travel around the world after the mysterious and dangerous Balkan. Like it.

October 07, 2010

Fathers and Sons were my favorite moments of today's episode. As Lucky lay up behind bars in Ireland, guess who comes as his "savior"... Luke dressed as a man of the cloth. LOL. The two of them bantered about in their fake accents in front of the police- arguing over if Luke was going to help Lucky get out of this jam. Just as they were about to act though, Lucky is freed and they return to his apartment where Luke is filled in. Luke disproves but before he can say anymore, the cops are knocking on the door ready to arrest Luke. Personally I love any scene where Luke and Lucky interact- especially this Lucky. I have watched them since Lucky was a little boy.

Back in Port Charles, another father and son duo had their own interaction. Dante came by Sonny's place interrogating him about the car bomb that injured Johnny and Kristina. Sonny tells him that he should just let it go since he already push them to a truce. He then later pointed out that Dante has tunnel vision just like him and he should learn from his mistake and Sonny's many mistakes. In other words, nothing good would come of it if Dante proceeds to investigate this. Today was one of the few times I agree with Sonny. If Dante continues with this- in the name of justice- so many people (other than Sonny) will be affected- Kristina, Michael, Carly, Alexis, Olivia, etc.

This was not the only time today that I agreed with Sonny. After Maxi informed Jax that Brenda is back in town, Jax ran to Sonny's place to tell him to stay away from Brenda. Frankly, Jax needs to be more focused on his wife which Sonny reminded him about. In fact, Sonny's parting words that Jax should take care of his wife and allow him to take care of Brenda.

Carly would/will have a fit if/when she finds out that her husband is going around warning her ex-husband to stay away from Brenda. However, she shifted back into mother-mode and was focus on Michael. She goes to check on her son after getting a phone call from Michael's principal about Michael not showing up to school. In a surprisingly mature and reasonable move, she convinces Michael that he has options and he cannot just sit home and brood. So she drives him to school and returns to confront Dante about his inability to take care of Michael properly and making him a priority.

Well one woman in Port Charles is excited to see Brenda. Checking out of the hospital, Robin got a surprise visit from her old friend. They shortly talked about what's going on in their life. Robin told her about her dramas with Patrick and Lisa. Brenda, being a good friend, of course does not approve of a man who cheats on her friend. Robin defends him saying he was never marriage material and he's a really good father. Then Brenda briefly comments about her problems and why she is in Port Charles with Jason as her protector. Then Robin has to put her nose in her friend's romantic life and bring up Sonny. Brenda says that she doesn't want to get hurt, but Robin argues that they might be mature enough to be in a relationship finally.

Both depart to see the two men of Brenda's life. Robin goes to tell Sonny she wants them together. Brenda, after Suzanne tells her that her Rome apartment has been ransacked, goes to see Jax. Boy does Jax's face light up when he first lays eyes on Brenda- the princess he feels like he has to protect.

CAT FIGHTS in PORT CHARLES

Well Max and Milo became witness to a verbal brawl between Diane and Suzanne after Suzanne swept into Port Charles to inform Jason that Brenda's apartments in Europe have been ransacked by the The Balkin's men. Sam, burst in and demanded an explanation of why Suzanne thought Jason was the best person to contact to help Brenda. However, her interrogation was short lived when she got a call to return to Michael. Jason also leaves, and Suzanne decides to have dinner there. Just as she and Max exchange a few flirty comments, Diane walks in. Their argument almost sounded like a political debate of taxing the rich 2% of America so they can find loopholes to do business overseas with overworked children in countries with "no laws" versus non-profit organizations using most of their revenue on publicity and supporting their big name sponsors to gain attention. When did Port Charles get political? Who do you think won the argument? I'm leaning towards Suzanne even though Diane threw the last punch by telling her that big mobster Sonny has been all over their "squeaky clean" Brenda.

During all this, Jason and Sam are preoccupied with Michael's problems. Trying to help, Sam hired a girl named Candy- real name Abby- to sleep with Michael after he revealed his intimacy problems to Jason. Well Sam's plan did not work and now Michael feels even more like a freak. Running away from Sam, he seeks help from Jason who tells him that he will always be there for him. I frankly don't know why Michael thought he could just jump right into having sex with a stranger when he can barely stand the fact of being in close quarters with people he's known all his life. Since he wants to get over his phobia/issue without seeking professional help, I suggest he meets someone who is understanding and patient. He should start getting accustom to holding hands, then maybe an arm around the shoulder, then a hug. Face it Michael, you would be better off with an old fashion, traditional romance with courtship. That would be kind of cute.

However, there was nothing cute at Jake's the second cat fight of the day occurred their between the Falconeri cousins- Olivia and Kate. I don't know why Kate put her nose in Olivia's business especially since it has NOTHING to do with her. (And is it me or is the actress playing Kate looking a little preggers?) Unlike the fight between Suzanne and Diane (two strong women I love to watch) these hellions went old school and physical. It took Steve and Dante to pull them away. Even when they were pulled apart, they kept snapping at each other. It came to a point that Brook had to yell at them because she was singing on stage. Of course she was singing to.... Nikolas. Oh where, oh where is Elizabeth now. Frankly, though, I don't like him and Elizabeth that much anymore. I did when they first began their affair because she did act more a grown woman with him than she did with Lucky, but after the entire mess they put themselves through I'm so over them. Really, I don't want Elizabeth to be with anyone. I wish she would learn how to stand on her own two feet and show her boys what a strong woman looks like.

Anyway, off my soap box, Dante leaves Jake's and returns to his apartment with food for Lulu who was dragged into a work-related conversation by Maxie. Though she does not like the woman, Maxie is determined to get Brenda on the cover of Crimson because that is what Kate wants. So that is their next challenge. What will Lulu think when she (and everyone else) finds out that Brenda might have a strong connection with her boyfriend? And what is that connection? Mysterious.

Maxie can now focus on Spinelli and Brenda and Kate because her cousin Robin is safe in the hospital. However, she is not easy to forgive and take back her husband. I can understand her hesitation, though. It's hard to forgive and forget the past tortuous weeks when you find out that the woman your husband slept with has been skillfully after you and making you go crazy. Lisa had practically turned the hospital against Robin and it was thanks to Patrick. Honestly, I would be disappointed if the writers had Robin open her arms and forgive Patrick just because Lisa's at Shady Brooks. That's unrealistic and nauseating. I do hope that they will make their way back to each other, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lisa came back, Robin goes neurotic and pushes Patrick in Lisa's arms. Then again, if that happens, maybe they should bring in another guy for Robin. Someone who is less ex-frat boy and more subdued and "boring" to match her "boring" personality. Maybe Brenda's ex, Murphy Sinclair, will fit perfectly with her. Just a thought. I doubt Brenda is going to take him back and it would be a shame to just let him go into nothingness.

October 04, 2010

Today's episode capped off last Friday's cliffhangers while hinting towards the next mysteries:

Patrick saves Robin from the dry well and Lisa from herself. He grabs her gun away and it fires into the air. Mac and the police come rushing forward and Patrick advises that Lisa should be sent to Shady Brook's for treatment instead of jail. At the hospital, where Robin is being treated, she tells Patrick that her visit with Stone reminded her how much she loves her husband but she's not sure if love is enough to save their marriage. I don't blame her. If my husband is still defending the woman who drugged me and made it look like I was crazy, I would be wondering what's the point of staying married to him. I mean, he decided to stay with the crazy woman instead of going with his wife to the hospital. Come on!

In Ireland, Lulu and Dante are sent back to Port Charles after Lulu accidentally knocks out one of Interpol's men who was asking too many questions. They both resigned to return reality which includes Kate and Sonny and everyone else who is going to affect their relationship. However, the last shot we see is Dante's mysterious reaction to a picture of Brenda in a magazine. And the plot thickens.

Speaking of which, Brenda and Sonny go back and forth about their relationship and Brenda's supposed decision to stay away from him while she's in Port Charles. They talk about their past ups and downs- Brenda claiming to want to move on with her life and Sonny accusing her of wanting him to change her mind. How quickly his mind dismisses Claire- the woman he just made love with in an airplane. Briefly they are interrupted by Diane (I love this woman) who of course wanted to butt in but was thrown out by Sonny who thought he was on the verge of pulling Brenda to stay for awhile.

After being thrown out by Sonny, Diane runs into her good friend Alexis and is filled in by the current occurrences of Sonny's love life. Alexis already knew a part of it since Claire told her that she just came back from a little vacation with Sonny. Being a woman who has been in Claire's shoes, Alexis warns her but Claire dismisses her warning claiming that she "knows" that she has with Sonny is different. As if! Alexis just called her butt and she did not want to admit that she fell in the same trap that EVERYONE warned her about.

While Alexis is being caught up in Sonny's love life, her daughter Molly is making the rounds telling everyone how much she hates the idea of her uncle Sonny being with the woman who put Michael in prison. Needing some advice on how to tell her over-emotional sister, Molly goes to Michael to tell him and continues by gushing over the fact that he met THE BRENDA BARRETT. Once Molly leaves, Michael goes to meet Kristina only to bump into her friend, Allie, who arranged the meeting. She invites Michael to a party that even Kristina won't be attending. I guess Michael wants to pretend to be a regular teenager so he accepts the invitation. Afterward he goes to Jason's- interrupting an intimate moment between him and Sam- and requests his "uncle" to get him a prostitute.
